Outdoor, intimate weddings are the best. Molly and Josh had a backyard wedding but, in this case, their backyard was ranch land in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Jeannie and Richie celebrated 10 years of marriage at one of the most epic spots at the Grand Canyon. Shoshone Point is spectacular and stormy skies only make it better.
Maggie and Karl planned their Sky Ranch Lodge wedding in Sedona for the weekend after Thanksgiving. It was a beautiful, crisp fall day. Their ceremony took place at 11 a.m.with a brunch reception at Mesa Grill high atop Airport Mesa. Who doesn't love a brunch wedding reception?
Betsy and Mark wanted a winter wedding in downtown Flagstaff so they decided the Weatherford Hotel would be the venue. Good choice! The Weatherford Hotel is full of character and was the perfect backdrop for their celebration.
You can't beat an engagement session in Oak Creek Canyon. Fer reals. Especially a West Fork engagement session.
Alesha and Brian had a Forest Highlands wedding last September. They tied the knot on the 14th hole. It's really a beautiful spot to have a Flagstaff wedding. The day turned out clear and crisp despite rain the day before. Both Brian and Alesha get ready at the Meadow Clubhouse and eventually returned back to the clubhouse for their reception.
Shannon and Molly are theater people. They've spent a lot of time at Theatrikos in downtown Flasgtaff so it made sense to head there for their engagement session. We started outside to take advantage of the fall color before heading inside. To say this session was pretty darn fun is an understatement.
Ursula and Severo eloped in Sedona. But it wasn't your average Sedona elopement. It was a bit of a Viking elopement. For real. Sev's got some Viking blood. So instead of a suit and tie he went with a suit of armor. And a sword.
Megan and Mike got married at the Arboretum at Flagstaff, one of my favorite places to photograph a Flagstaff wedding celebration. The Arboretum is a special place tucked away down a bumpy dirt road. Even if you live in Flagstaff it's kind of a destination wedding. Megan and Mike are outdoorsy folks, so the Arb was a fantastic wedding venue choice. Their wedding celebration was perfectly them - simple and down to earth - surrounded by friends and family.
Danielle and Adam had an Arizona Snowbowl wedding high up on Mt. Humphreys. Danielle began the day getting ready with friends and family in downtown Flagstaff before heading up the mountain to put on her wedding dress in the locker rooms at Snowbowl. Adam and his groomsmen had time for a card game before suiting up and then sang a little harmony in the bathroom to loosen up. And then it was time to get married.
Olivia and Monti traveled all the way from Dubai for their destination wedding at L'Auberge de Sedona. It was an intimate, creek side affair with family and close friends. After getting ready in rooms at opposite sides of the resort, the two chose to see each other for the first time when Olivia walked down the aisle. It was so beautiful.
Flagstaff is a great place to get married! Here is a list of some of my favorite venues. From historic, maybe even haunted, downtown hotels to mountain top lodges, upscale event centers to outdoor arboretums, there is a wedding ceremony and reception location for just about any style of celebration.
Planning a wedding day that is stress free and a magical, super rad, once in a lifetime celebration is totally possible. Seriously!
Rohan proposed to Rujuta last November on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon on a beautiful, crisp afternoon. Rohan and I had been in contact for at least a month. We coordinated our meeting spot and plan for photographing the moment he asked Rujuta to marry him. I love photographing once in a lifetime moments. Asking your "person" to marry you totally qualifies!
As 2018 gets rolling, I took some time to gather together some of my favorite images from last year. Some are greatest hits and some are B-sides that I really love. It's a pretty big collection of Arizona wedding images and it doesn't include close to everything I loved about photographing weddings with my clients in 2017.
I met Marissa and Dave at their Alma Mater, the University of Arizona for an engagement photo session. The two live in Los Angeles now but they drove back to Arizona to meet up. We had a great time visiting their old haunts and after the session ate burritos and drank margarita's. Pretty nice afternoon!
Andy proposed to Andrea on a crisp day in March at the Grand Canyon. You would never know it was the middle of winter when we took these engagement photos. Must be their love for each other - or an unseasonably warm day. I'm going with both in this case.
As I catch up on blogging this past year's work, I'm reminded that there isn't a month during the year that isn't spectacular at the Grand Canyon. Eliane and Jason traveled to Arizona in March to enjoy the South Rim and take some engagement photos.
Bethany and Ryan are High School sweethearts who tied the knot on a beautiful summer day in Flagstaff, Arizona. Ryan is in the Army and it was possible that their wedding could get postponed due to his possible deployment but as it turned out, the day went off without a hitch.
Autumn and Luke are outdoors people so we met in the forest outside Flagstaff for their engagement photos. These two also love their dogs so they came along as well. Super fun!
