Fall weddings in Flagstaff are just plain beautiful. And Flagstaff Arboretum weddings at that time of year are the best. I met up with Olivia and Philip at a downtown AirBnB just south of Route 66 where they were both getting ready, Olivia in the back bedroom and Philip in the front of the house. I really love when couples get ready in the same location. I think it makes for a strong feeling of connection at the start of the wedding day. Philip’s brother and his dad were at the house. They helped Philip get ready. The emotional support of friends and family is so important. Olivia, her mom and sister were in the back where hair and make up was happening. Philip had to make his way through the bedroom without the two of them seeing each other before their first look. Funny moment for sure.

After Olivia was all ready, she made her way out to the backyard and walked out to where Philip was waiting and tapped him on the shoulder. Their first look was really an important part of the day and they took their time with it. I don’t push for a first look over waiting to see each other at the wedding ceremony. They’re both good options. How you set up your day is personal preference. But, this first look was so relaxed, slow, intentional. We also had time to take advantage of the beautiful backyard space for some portraits. And, Philip and Olivia practiced their first dance for a few minutes. Then it was off to the Flagstaff Arboretum for their wedding ceremony!

Once we arrived at the Arboretum, the final touches were coming together. Flower petals were spread down the aisle, boutonniere’s were pinned on and guests found their seats. Olivia and Philip walked down the aisle together to their wedding ceremony. After a beautiful ceremony, we took group photos and then the married couple and I explored the Arboretum for a few minutes for some sunset/golden hour portraits with sunflowers and the San Francisco peaks in the background. You can’t beat the Flagstaff Arboretum for forest vibes and incredible views! And then we headed off to their downtown Flagstaff wedding reception. Location three for the day!

Their reception party was intimate and low key relaxed. After cocktail hour, everybody went upstairs for dinner, toasts, a shoe game, cake cutting and dancing. Lots of smiles and laughter. And emotional moments. And then with sparklers lit and held high in the air, the couple ran out into the Flagstaff night! Super fun day. Enjoy!
