Some weddings are so unique, so one of a kind, so reflective of the essence of the two people getting married - and this is one of those. Sydney and Scott are visual artists who live in Sedona. They are kind, generous, gentle souls. Their wedding day was a relaxed affair. It was easy going and so enjoyable.
Sedona weddings often feature red rock vistas but this was a different affair. The wedding took place at Scott’s parents’ home, which is tucked into a beautiful corner of Sedona with lush, green gardens and Oak Creek tributaries running through the property. When I arrived Scott was mostly ready but needed to get his boutonniere sorted out. Sydney was upstairs with her daughters and their friends getting final hair and make up done and then getting on her dress. Speaking of her dress, it was totally unique. Bold, vibrant colors and shimmering fabric.
The ceremony took place in the driveway. All the guests eventually gathered around and the wedding ceremony eased into being. It felt important but low key at the same time. Full of emotion and intention but full of laughter as well.
After the ceremony we took a few group photos and then made some awesome portraits of Sydney and Scott among the plants and ivy. Everybody enjoyed drinks and appetizers sitting at tables scattered around a beautiful little pond. Eventually a band made up of friends of the newly married couple began playing and dancing commenced. Super fun.
The festivities ended with the best cake cutting I’ve ever photographed. Scott and Sydney had so much fun cutting and eating their beautiful cake as everyone gathered around. It was joyful. And a great way to end their afternoon wedding celebration.
Enjoy!
