I love shooting photos in northern Arizona. One super iconic spot is Horseshoe Bend. Witnessing someone propose to their partner on the cliffs high of the Colorado River is pure magic. It’s a privilege to document these kinds of life changing events. I always just fold into the moment. The emotion is so strong!

Noah contacted me about documenting the moment he proposed to his girlfriend Sherry while on a road trip around the southwest. There are a number of ways to make the surprise work but the best way, hands down, is to schedule a standard couples shoot and then propose at the front end. That’s how we worked this one out. I met the two of them in the parking lot and we walked out to Horseshoe Bend together - about 10 minute hike. Once we arrived we picked our first location and as we started making photos, Noah got down on his knee and proposed. It was awesome!

After the emotional tidal wave had passed just a bit, the session morphed into a more standard engagement shoot. We explored Horseshoe Bend, finding so many rad spots for portraits. Once the sun had set, and we made some pretty epic blue hour photos, we headed back up the trail to our cars. It was a really beautiful evening - Noah’s proposal, Sherry’s “yes” and an epic Arizona sunset. Enjoy!
