Lindsey and Jonathan got hitched May 4 up at Snowbowl in Flagstaff. You never know what kind of weather to expect in the spring in northern Arizona. Snow is not unheard of for this time of year. But, the day proved to be perfect. Lindsey and Jonathan make each other super happy and it showed during their wedding. And who knew, Jonathan can dance! You can’t beat the sunset from halfway up the San Francisco Peaks. Sarah at Snowbowl did a fantastic job coordinating the wedding. She even stepped in to block some sunlight through a window while Lindsey and Jonathan signed their marriage license! Oh, and May the Fourth be with you! Enjoy the photos.

Laura and Richard got married about three weeks ago. They eloped. No big, fancy wedding. That suits their style and personalities perfectly. Richard makes Laura smile just by looking at her. The two were really fun to spend a couple hours with walking along the rim of the Grand Canyon on a day that started out overcast but ended up just beautiful. Perfect light with some scattered clouds. Because they eloped, these photos really are their wedding photos. Laura and Richard look pretty darn happy! As we stopped to take photos it became obvious that despite being a pilot in the Airforce, Richard is pretty afraid of heights. But, he really played ball and indulged me as I coaxed him to the edge of the Canyon time and time again. Enjoy the photos!

Every so often it’s nice to have some photos taken of yourself. Really, it’s true. You know, a “this is me in the year 2013″ kind of thing. Claire and her husband Nick moved from the UK to renovate and reopen the Sheridan House Inn Bed and Breakfast in Williams, Arizona. Renovate is an understatement. The place is hardly recognizable from its former incarnation. The B&B is really, really nice. The thing is, the place keeps them both super busy. So, we met one afternoon this past week and ran around to a few locations pretty darn quickly and shot a bunch of photos before their guests noticed they were gone. The photos turned out great! Colleen is having another baby (if that isn’t really, really obvious)! It’s a girl. I spent a little time with Colleen, her husband Bryan and their two-year-old Autumn last weekend at their home in Flagstaff. We hung out and talked about babys and how amazing little kids really are. I have a little three-year-old who knocks me out and a one-year-old that is a little trouble maker in the best way. Autumn warmed up pretty quickly and gave us about a 30-minute window for pictures before she was done with the whole thing. Pretty good for a little one. I put up my portable photo studio in their living room (it takes less than five minutes) and took some photos on a white background. Always an elegant way to go. Enjoy the photos!

Nadia and Joe | Grandeur Point Grand Canyon Wedding | Grand Canyon Wedding Photographer

Nadia and Joe decided to get married at the Grand Canyon Dec. 29. That’s right. At the end of December. They were hoping for a snowy wedding and that’s exactly what they got.And it was a little chilly. But Nadia was prepared. She had a long white jacket that looked fantastic and kept her warm. Joe came prepared with low profile cramp-ons for his boots. While the two are from Austin, Texas, Nadia’s family has been coming to the Canyon for years and years. It’s a special place for their family. About 40 friends and family made the journey to Grand Canyon to be a part of Nadia and Joe’s wedding. It was a beautiful ceremony right on the rim at Grandeur Point. After the ceremony, everybody made their way to the Thunderbird Lodge for the reception after which most everybody headed out for some hiking. It was a beautiful day all around. Enjoy the photos!

Ben and Steph | Powell Point and El Tovar Grand Canyon Engagement | Grand Canyon Wedding Photographer

Ben called me one day from the east coast looking for a photographer to capture images of his engagement to his girlfriend Steph. Yes, actually photograph the moment he got down on one knee and proposed. I said “let’s do it!” Steph had always wanted to see the Grand Canyon. It was going to be a special trip even if Ben didn’t propose. Ben and I conspired to meet at Powell Point at sunrise last weekend. Powell Point is really a spectacular spot to watch the sun come up. I arrived just after Ben and Steph. Ben and I exchanged a quick head nod as I walked up with my lighting gear and camera. I set out to document the moment Ben popped the question without looking like a complete stalker. Later, Steph said something to the effect of “I did notice there was someone taking a lot of photos nearby…” Anyway, Ben proposed and it was a beautiful moment. I feel lucky to have been included. Ben and Steph are meant to be together. You can just tell. After the proposal, Ben introduced me to Steph and we took some more photos at the point. Ben and Steph headed back to their hotel to change. I grabbed some breakfast and then met them at the El Tovar hotel on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon for a more traditional engagement shoot. Ben and Steph were so fun to hang out with. We captured some incredible moments. They had so much fun in front of the camera and were down for creating some really fun images. I don’t often get up as early as I did last weekend, but I’d do it any day to photograph folks like these. Enjoy!

I met Lisa, Jim and their three-year-old son Lief outside Macy’s coffee shop a little over a week ago for a family photo session. We had originally planned to tromp around downtown Flagstaff a few days earlier but the first snow storm of the season and it’s chilly temperatures prompted us to reschedule. Thankfully, the weather was good to us later in the week and we had temps in the high 50s. No problem. Lief was a rock star for about 1 1/2 hours. We had a great time and I think it shows. Enjoy.

Jennifer, Charles and Abbey | Flagstaff Family Photographer

Charles works across the street from Buffalo Park in Flagstaff and he and Jennifer and their daughter Abbey live pretty close to the park as well. So, Buffalo Park is a go to for walks, workouts and family time. We met there on Friday of last week at about 4 p.m. It was cold and windy. Charles and Jennifer know about cold. They’ve lived on the east coast. I lived back east for 10 years as well. Friday wasn’t all that cold by east coast standards but, never the less, we opted to bail out after about an hour. I know, pretty wimpy. But. I’m not kidding, it felt pretty chilly. And, Abbey wanted out of the deal. We reconvened on Sunday and it was a beautiful day. All in all, we had a great time and managed to take plenty of great images. Here’s to persistence! Enjoy.

Jonathan proposed to Lindsay at the end of the West Fork Trail in Oak Creek Canyon. You’ve got to cross the creek 10 times on the hike. Depending on the time of year there can be a lot of water running and the crossings aren’t really a guaranteed success. But they made it and when Jonathan asked Lindsay to marry him and she said “yes,” Lindsay had to hike all the way back to the trailhead before she had any cell phone reception to let friends and family in on the big news! We returned to the West Fork Trail to shoot some engagement photos along with their dog. The water isn’t running very high at the moment so we had fun getting some photos on the rocks in the middle of the creek. Lindsay and Jonathan are getting hitched in May at Snowbowl in Flagstaff. Can’t wait to shoot their wedding! Enjoy the photos!
